Here is Ray Pizzi in action in his "Ode to a Toad" This is the song I played in San Francisco when I got the copper bassoon, but not quite. I played the Bulgarian version. lol

Haha, and I just found this one with Ray Pizzi live. At the very beginning he says "Now I would like to say you can dedicate this song to anyone you like- I call it Ode to a Toad"

Why is it so Hard to find a Bassoon Teacher?

Unfortunately, there are too few bassoon players. I have heard several reasons for why this may be: "It's a hard instrument," "It's expensive," "It's too big to fit in my back-pack," and finally "What's a bassoon?"

The bassoon, when stretched out on the ground from boot to bell is about eight feet long, but with normal assembly, it is about five feet long. It weighs about 18 pounds in the case and has up to 33 keys. Bassoons vary in color from black, to red, to brown, to orange. The bassoon has a low mellow sound and the lowest note that the bassoon can play is the second to last B flat located on the piano. The highest note that the bassoon can play is a G in the octave above middle C.

The character of the bassoon can range from comic to tragic. Famous bassoon solos with which most people are familiar, are; "The Grandfather" from Peter and the Wolf, the theme from Disney's Fantasia when Mickey-Mouse (the sorcerer's apprentice) is carrying buckets of water around, and in classical pieces such as Bolero.
